Obituary of James Steven Demenge

James Steven Demenge, 70 of Cloquet passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 11, 2020 in his home. He was born November 26, 1950 in Cloquet to Gottlieb "Ole" and Bernice (Lee) Demenge. He graduated from Albrook High School in 1968. Jim worked at Brenny Dahl Block and logged for many years. In 1985 he also started working for Potlatch and retired from Sappi. For the past few years he enjoyed working for Arrowhead Transit. Jim was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Potlatch Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed going to the Superior and Proctor Races, going to auctions, playing his guitar and accordion, and singing. Jim was always there to give someone a ride. His greatest joy came from spending time with his kids and grandkids. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gregory and Randy. He is survived by three sons, Joshua (Sara) of Ft. Worth, TX, Brian (Kristi) of Kettle River and Daniel (Laura Bakken) of Cloquet; and their mother, Wendy Ballantine of Cloquet; eight grandchildren, Ahna, Tyler, Riley, Kolton, Benjamin, Kyle, Hannah, and Nathaniel; and nine siblings, Edward (Kathy) of Cloquet, Robert (Debbie) of McGregor, Linda Carlson of Carlton, Frank (Margo) of Cloquet, Joanne (John) Buskala of Cloquet, Larry Demenge of Saginaw, Gary (Judy) of Cloquet, Susan (Jerry) Gorney of Texas, and Mark (Brenda) of Cloquet. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service Thursday, December 17, 2020 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. From the funeral home parking lot, friends and relatives can listen to the service on FM 98.3. A video recording of the service will be on the funeral home website later that afternoon.
