Obituary of Linda Jean Wolter

Linda Jean Wolter, 73, of Cloquet, MN returned to stardust on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. She was born December 21, 1947 in Monroe, WI to Beverly Smith (Wise) & John A Smith Sr. Linda and her family moved to Cloquet in 1974 and purchased a small 40-acre hobby farm northwest of town where Linda learned how to be a true Pioneer Woman. She was known in the Women's slow-pitch softball world as Linda "Dirty Shoes" Wolter. She played for several teams in her softball career and made many lifelong friends. She was also a National League bowler and traveled to nearly all of the 50 states competing with her teams for many joyous years. Linda was co-owner of Maggie's Bar on Hwy 33 for 12 years. She retired from Sappi after over 30 years of service and enjoyed more time with her epic family, being a monster cross-stitching artist, puzzle enthusiast, taking non-ski trips with her friends, bird watching, feeding her NCIS obsession, fishing, hunting and camping with her son's family, and exploring the deeper cosmos and meaning of life with her daughter. Linda is survived by her children: Dayna Jean Wolter of Saint Paul, MN; Jason James and his wife, Tara Wolter of Cloquet, MN; her grandchildren, Jayda and Ty Wolter of Cloquet, MN; and her older sibling, John A Smith, Jr. & his wife, Linda. Linda was preceded in death by her parents John A Smith Sr. & Beverly Smith (Wise). She lives on in the rollicking tales told of her hilarious adventures with her friends and family, and her awesome-ness will never be forgotten. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet, MN. Due to the Times of Covid-19, there will be a Celebration of Life ceremony in the late spring/early summer of 2021 in Cloquet, MN. Cards can be sent to 702 27th St Cloquet MN 55720.
