Our family loved dear Aunt Martha! It was always a pleasure to drive up from Mpls. to see her smiling face. She always had the coffee ready and loved to sit and visit. Uncle Joy and Aunt Martha were very special people. Thank you dear cousins for the special tribute you wrote about your mom. Love you all!

Rest In Peace, Martha. As a teacher at Pike Lake School, I had the privilege of meeting Martha when a school board member, Larry Shelton, introduced me to her several years ago. As a teacher, I talked to my fifth graders about her extraordinary life. Her first hand historical account regarding her life experiences became "real" to my students. The fifth graders were able to help celebrate her birthdays by making their own cards for her. Martha would respond by writing sincere thank you cards to the class. Because of this, the students felt connected to her and witnessed another life lesson of " learning to be grateful" and appreciative of the little things in life.

Tim and Lori, I met Martha and Joy a few times I was up at the lake with Lori. What wonderful people they were. Always a smile on your mother's face. You two were so lucky to of had them for so long. Although you still feel the pain of Martha's passing, know that she is in the loving arms of your father:heart:

What a great tribute to a wonderful person. You are all so lucky to have had her around, and alert, for all of these years. That is truly a gift. Mrs. Westlund (as I was told to always refer to an elder) was always around and always with a smile...your Dad as well. I never knew he worked on the AlCan. It seems that time does fly by....Dad shared quite a bit about the "Fire" ....he was 8 at the time and something that really shaped their lives. The depression as well.....when we tore our barn down, we had buckets of nails ready for me to straighten... And yes, they were re-used for a wood shed! I wish you all the best and you did a great job with the write up on your Mother.
Sincerely,
Darrel Wick

I absolutely loved when I would get to see Martha. She would come by and visit with my Great Grandma Myrtle Fermenich. Listening to them talk for hours about gardening, Sweden and their families was always fantastic. She sure did live a wonderful and event filled life. Condolences to all of her family.

Dear Diane, Gary, Terry, Tim and families, I was deeply saddened by your Mother/Grandmother's passing. She was a wonderful lady and will be dearly missed. Martha was part of my life ever since I was very young. She's the last of my "Saginaw" moms. I have SO many great memories of times spent with the Westlund family. I look forward to a celebration of life at a later date. With much love and sympathy to all of you, Char "Brockway" Talbot
