Obituary of Michael Clarence Erickson

Michael “Mike” Clarence Erickson, age 62, of rural Duluth, died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was born in Cloquet on June 30, 1960, to Clarence and Smila Erickson.

Mike was a 1978 graduate of AlBrook High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981. Mike was promoted to Corporal within the first 2 years and proudly served in the Color Guard. He served his country for 6 years and was honorably discharged. He was a hard worker all his life and worked most of his career as a foreman with Lakehead Constructors. After retiring, he continued to volunteer his help to anyone in need.

Mike was a fun and adventurous man who loved fishing, watching sports, traveling, and most of all spending time with family and friends at the Lake.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Erickson in 2019.

He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Erickson; mother, Smila Erickson; sister, Becky (Jay) Tremblay; brother, Mark (Lisa) Erickson; foster brother, Vernon (Jennifer) Erickson; nieces, Angela (John) Irvine and their children, Madeline, Alice, and Boyd, and Melissa (George) Lahr and their children, Isabelle and William; nephews, Nathan (Heather) Erickson and their children Eliana and August, Corey Erickson, and Matthew (Kim Kantorowicz) Erickson and their children, Owen, Easton, and Chase; Mike’s step-children, Matthew (Britney Juten) Hacking, Christina (Jamen Olk) Hacking, and Garrett Hacking; longtime friend, Dave Fines; and his loving puppy Bentley, who was always at his side.

 A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Memorial service is immediately following at Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Military honors will be provided by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow the service in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
