Obituary of Albert "AL" Bober

Albert “AL” Bober, 87, of Brookston passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at home.  Al was born on June 28, 1936 in Chisholm to Stanley and Francis Bober.  Al graduated from Chisholm High School in 1954. Al married Karen Lee Simpson on December 21, 1957 in Hibbing, MN and their marriage lasted over 65 years. He worked for U.S Steel in Chisholm from 1955 to 1962, Minnesota State Grain Inspector from 1965 to 1977. Al owned and operated a dairy farm in Brookston from 1968 until he retired in 1993.

Al was very active in the community, becoming Chief for both the Arrowhead Fire Dept, and the Arrowhead First Responders.  He was the Arrowhead Township Supervisor. Al was a part of the AMPI Delegate, Arrowhead Mutual Aide and on the Floodwood Coop Board.

Al enjoyed woodworking, and spending winters in Casa Grande, AZ since 2001. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald; brother, George; son-in-law, Greg.

Al is survived by his wife; Karen; sister, Patricia Surla; daughter; Paulette; sons, Peter (Barb), and Ralph (Michelle); daughter-in-law, Terry; grandchildren, Tiffany, Tyler, Tanner (Hannah), Bradley (Kayla), Alex (Katlyn), Marissa (Andrew), Matthew, Sara (Chad), Katie; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mason, Brayden, Colin, Carson, Hudson, Bryson, Brandyn, and one on the way.
